GirlSTART is a program designed to increase the literacy skills, self-esteem and success of first and second grade.
GirlSTART focuses on enhancing girls’ self-esteem and confidence, as well as their attitude toward school and learning. The program provides a safe environment where girls can increase their literacy skills, develops their own thoughts, explore their feelings and provides space for girls to explore and nurture relationships.
Through a literacy focus, GirlSTART emphasizes the fundamental skills necessary for girls to succeed and face future academic challenges. GirlSTART participants take part in a variety of educational and enrichment activities aimed at increasing interest in learning and engaging girls in hands-on, interactive activities not available during school hours.
